Santa Clara County School Boards Association

Supporting public education in Santa Clara County

The Santa Clara County School Boards Association (SCCSBA) is a membership organization that represents school board members from the 31 school districts in Santa Clara County, as well as MetroED and the Santa Clara County Office of Education.

Since its inception in 1975, SCCSBA's mission has been to connect, inform, and support public school leaders as they strive to provide fiscal stability, transparency, and an equitable education for all students. All School Board Trustees in Santa Clara County are members of the SCCSBA, and are encouraged and welcome to participate in the Association’s activities.

SCCSBA offers a variety of resources to enhance leadership and collaboration, including:

  • Informational Programs: Gain insights into the latest trends, policies, and challenges in public education.

  • Professional Development: Build skills and knowledge through targeted training sessions.

  • Networking Opportunities: Engage with fellow trustees and superintendents to share ideas and foster partnerships.

  • Legislative Advocacy: Use your voice in representing the interests of public education policy at local, county, state, and federal levels.

Professional Development & Networking

SCCSBA hosts a number of events during the school year, including a Fall Networking Dinner, a Legislative Brunch, the Hoffmann Awards Dinner, and a variety of networking breakfasts/lunches and educational events both in person and on Zoom. All of these events provide opportunities for school board trustees and superintendents to connect with each other, share information, and work together to promote and support public education.

Advocacy

The SCCSBA Legislative Action Committee annually prioritizes educational concerns that are shared across all member districts. The committee raises awareness of issues and works collaboratively with the SCCSBA membership and with legislators, including city, county, state, and federal elected officials.

Hoffmann Awards

Each year, through the Glen W. Hoffmann Exemplary Program Awards, the SCCSBA recognizes and celebrates successful school programs that have a significant impact on student success. Named for the former County Superintendent, the awards are given to innovative and replicable programs that are being implemented in a Santa Clara County school district or in the County Office of Education.
