Professional Development & Networking
Monthly meetings include an update on SCCSBA activities, a presentation by the County Superintendent, and a presentation on a featured topic. Topics for the 2024-25 school year include student wellness and artificial intelligence. Topics in previous years have included the new math framework, early learning and childcare in Santa Clara County, and the Science of Reading. All trustees and superintendents in Santa Clara County are invited to attend. A Zoom link and calendar invite will be shared with all trustees prior to each meeting.

Zoom Call, 12:00 - 1:15pm
Lunch & Learn meetings are informal and include a discussion on topics of interest to Board members. Each meeting begins with a conversation starter on a specific topic and then the meeting is open to everyone for questions or comments. Topics for the 2024-25 school year include cell phone policy in schools and campus safety. Topics in previous years have included LCAP and strategic planning, board agenda formation, superintendent evaluation, and special education. All trustees and superintendents in Santa Clara County are invited to attend. A Zoom link will be shared with all trustees prior to each meeting.

Annual Fall Networking Dinner

A Fall Dinner provides an opportunity each year for trustees and superintendents to connect. Dinner is followed by a panel of students who present on a chosen topic. The topic for the 2024 Fall Dinner focuses on inclusion for students with disabilities.

After election results are finalized, the SCCSBA hosts a training for new school board members. Members of a panel, including superintendents and board members, answer questions on expectations of board members. Presenters will discuss other areas of support for Board members.

Annual Legislative Brunch
The Annual Legislative Brunch provides an opportunity for trustees and superintendents to hear from elected officials from all levels of government. Attendees have the opportunity to have their questions and concerns addressed. There is also typically a presentation from the State Board of Education President.
Annual Hoffmann Awards Dinner

Each year the SCCSBA coordinates the Hoffmann Exemplary Award program where outstanding educational programs in Santa Clara County are honored. The awards are presented to the winners at a celebration dinner in May each year, along with a personalized video.
School Board Candidate Workshop
In election years, the SCCSBA hosts a workshop for school board candidates. This includes a presentation from the Santa Clara County Registrar of Voters as well as a panel discussion where the panelists are current Board members.
